Crawl Atop Me and Meet Your Doom features a little interview with me about my upcoming haiku collection, The Art of Service. Thank you, CAMAMYD, for all your support!

Crawl Atop Me and Meet Your Doom

Today’s post is a fun change of pace. A fellow blogger, jiu-jitsu practitioner and (most importantly) friend, Lori Latimer, is on the cusp of having a book of haiku poems released so I wanted to take the opportunity to ask her about her writing and her book. For those of you who don’t know Lori, you can find her blog at http://www.latattack.wordpress.com. I highly recommend checking it out, Lori writes about everything from her experiences training Judo and jiu-jitsu to her social work to her musings on life in general and it’s always entertaining.

If you would like to learn more about the book, check out the trailer at https://vimeo.com/121580167

To pre-order her e-book from Amazon for the low, low price of $0.99, follow this link http://amzn.com/B00T6NO6WK.

Without further ado, here are some questions I came up with for Lori about her latest project and her answers, enjoy!

I’m being tested,

but the lesson is unclear.

I just want to pass.

It’s just days away from the release of my first book, The Art of Service! It will be available for purchase on Amazon this Saturday, 05.02. You can already pre-order the eBook version. I’d love to hear your feedback on the book if you get a chance to read it, so write a review on Amazon if you want to share your thoughts. Thank you all for reading!

Thumbprints.

These still moments

when we sit quietly at dusk and allow the mind to rest

flood and drain us with each slow breath.

We are full with the memory of all that was good and warm,

and empty since a memory is just a memory.

These connections we forge,

both lasting and fleeting,

leave inky thumbprints on our hearts

which can’t be scrubbed away.

You can’t erase touch.

Perhaps there is nothing so sweet as loneliness,

as we revere those thumbprints

and proudly bare our messy hearts.

It’s almost time! The Art of Service comes to you May 2nd!

I am so open.

I am so open.

I am endless like the ocean,

with the emptiness of the sky.

I am so open.

You cannot fold me over,

nor can you tether in the front yard,

or crush me like an empty soda can.

I am so open.

I let me arms stay wide,

and hold my gaze forward

as I expand with the horizon.

I am so open.

I relish in the weightlessness of joy,

and the only force keeping me held to the earth

is the heaviness of possibility.

I am so open.

I can run and run,

and I love the air and sky,

but I miss the mat.
