From silence to growth.

I like the evolution of friendships,

From barely noticing to passing conversation,

To inside jokes and prickly debates which lead to

Dreaming and planning.

And sometimes after years of unintentional silence,

Reconvening and making something old feel new.

in re-reading, the part I don’t get is how inside jokes and prickly debates lead to dreaming and planning tho

While I don’t think it’s any fun to explain poetry, I’ll say this:

I think as people get to know each other better, both through good times and conflict, you learn that you can really trust the other person and you let each other in on your big plans in life. You’re supportive when you take risks, either separately or together.

I can really relate to this – old (and true) friends can always pick up where they left off, no matter the years gone by. Very affirming, thank you!
